Important information:

Artwork for CD Booklet and Back Inlay

  • All artwork must be supplied as PDF or EPS files with all fonts turned to Curves/Outlines in printer's pairs or as per our specification sheets. A digital colour matched proof must also be supplied. If you are unable to supply artwork and proof as per our specifications, we are able to produce these for you at an  additional fee. In this case please  provide:

    • Artwork completed in QuarkExpress, Photoshop or Illustrator

    • Artwork as complete files on a CD-R with printouts of the final files

  • All full colour images must be saved as CMYK (not RGB). Please ensure that all RGB images have been converted to CYMK.

  • CMYK stands for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black which are the four colours that are used in full colour, offset printing. If you look closely enough you will see that all printed material is made up of tiny dots of these four colours.

  • RGB stands for Red, Green and Blue. These are the colours that make up the images of computer monitors and television screens. RGB images often appear to be be more vibrant than CMYK images, however, they cannot be printed.

  • Images should be saved as TIF or EPS files

  • All fonts used must be turned to Curves/Outlines on your final artwork file

  • All scans must be at a minimum of 300dpi at actual size

  • All artwork should include trim and fold lines in Registration black and 3mm of bleed all round

  • Bleed is when you extend an image or background colour over the crop marks of a document so that when it's trimmed after being printed, the colour or image goes right to the edge. If you don't include bleed and the printer crops 1 mm out then you will end up with a white border along the edges of your document.

  • Registration black is made up of all 4 process colours (CMYK). All trim and fold marks should be in registration black. Professional layout programs like QuarkExpress and Illustrator have Registration Black as a colour in the default colour palette.

Artwork for On Disc Printing

  • Disc artwork consists of 1, 2 or 3 spot colours nominated from the Pantone (PMS) colour chart; or CMYK (full colour print)

  • There should be no bleed or trim lines on the CD art

  • We recommend your catalogue number be included in the CD label artwork to ensure correct identification

  • Each file of disc label art should be marked with the catalogue number and the corresponding PMS colour. The identification must appear outside the image area and be a minimum of 12 points in bold typeface

  • Note that PMS colours or CMYK printed directly onto the CD's metal surface could appear slightly different in colour to those printed onto paper.

  • Type size should be no less than 5pt for text in positive print and be less than 7pt for negative print (reversed out)

Please note: Your computer screen and your desktop printer may not be an accurate colour guide to your finished artwork.
